Your resident gimikera is here to share her expeditions in this journey called life.
My entry (along with 200+ entries) is displayed on the ground floor of Greenbelt 3 as part of the Manila My Manila photo contest sponsored by Instituto Cervantes.
No. 94: Pagbibigay-pugay sa Hari ng Kalsada (the one on top)
When you pass by Greenbelt 3, do take the time to cast your vote for the best entry in Manila My Manila. The winner of the Audience Choice Award will win a Nikon F55 Kit SLR non-digital camera and P10,000 cash while the First Prize winner will win a Nikon D70 digital SLR camera and P30,000. (My entry number is 94 by the way…wink, wink)
Displayed on fire truck red square pillars, the entries show all facets of the nation’s capital. When I say all facets, I mean ALL facets. There are shots celebrating the magnificence of Manila’s architecture and there are shots shedding light on its squalor and poverty.
My favorite shot (apart from my entry) is aptly entitled "Reflections" because it shows a reflection of a flag upon the metal plate on the Rizal Monument — a masterpiece indeed!
This entry displays the uncanny ability of photographers to capture scenes that might be overlooked by others
According to Instituto Cervantes Director Javier Galvan, 360 entries were submitted this year and 200+ were selected to be displayed in Greenbelt 3.
The Awarding ceremony will be on October 20 (Thursday) 7 PM at the lobby of Greenbelt 3. Until then, I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
Debate continues to rage on about the origin of Man and these funny cartoons from Urban Semiotic seem to sum it up quite succintly.

I saw this funny cartoon from Pestonville about the evolution of music and it mentions such obscure genres as ghetto blasters and watered-down soul. Matt Groening sure provides an interesting look into music and its crazy beginnings. (Squeaking rabid mice leads to record company executives…priceless!)
