Your resident gimikera is here to share her expeditions in this journey called life.
Last Thursday night (July 7), our former officemate Chuck invited us to one of their gigs at Freedom Bar in Anonas, Q.C. To show our support, Lala, Wilma and I went there to watch the performance of Pay It Forward, the band where our very own Chuck was the lead vocalist and bass guitarist.
Rare Music Night featured other bands such as Bad Omen, Islandelata, Clamor Inferior, OO and Squeezed (who we thouught were very good considering that they had already performed abroad).
We left the office at around 9:30 PM and we took the MRT to Cubao Station and then took a ride to Anonas station where we met Wilma’s roommate Len. We had no difficulty finding Freedom Bar, which was located almost at the corner of Anonas (near McDonald’s Anonas).
The entrance fee was P100 and it already included one beer so we just ordered sisig and chicken lollipops for our dinner. I loved the way they prepared the sisig - it was soft and chewy and very rich in flavor.
First in the lineup was Bad Omen, the band that popularized a song that had political-activist theme to it. Pay It Forward played next and after a rocky start, the three-man band showcased their original compositions. There were times when Chuck’s voice was overwhelmed by the drums but overall, it was an enjoyable performance.

We stayed around for the next two bands before calling it a night.
Pay It Forward will perform again on July 20 at Purple Haze Bar in Marikina. For more information, check out the blog of Pay It Forward.
